Breast Imaging Chief Opportunity at UAB

The Department of Radiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking an exceptional academic breast imager to serve as section chief. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a busy clinical service and contribute to the department's mission of delivering high-quality patient care, advancing medical knowledge, and inspiring future generations of healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the breast imaging section, overseeing daily operations and ensuring excellent patient care
  • Develop and implement clinical programs, protocols, and policies to improve patient outcomes and departmental efficiency
  • Collaborate with breast surgeons, oncologists, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care and advance research initiatives
  • Recruit, mentor, and evaluate faculty members, promoting a culture of excellence and diversity
  • Engage in scholarly pursuits, publishing research and presenting at national conferences
  • Teach and mentor students, residents, and fellows, contributing to the department's educational mission
Requirements:
  • ABR-certified or eligible
  • Completed fellowship training in breast imaging or comparable
  • Demonstrated leadership success and experience in academic medicine
  • Strong clinical skills, established record of scholarly pursuit, and active interest in teaching
