Role Summary

The Sports Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing various athletic activities and ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all participants. This role involves direct supervision at program sites, including organized league events.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure participant safety at all times.
  • Maintain order and address any feedback or concerns from the community.
  • Implement and suggest modifications to existing policies and procedures for the programs.
  • Engage with a diverse range of individuals, including athletes, spectators, and staff, during daily operations.
  • Provide program information to participants; respond to inquiries and assist in resolving issues.
  • Manage emergency situations effectively.
  • May be required to administer first aid when necessary.

Qualifications
  • In-depth understanding of the policies and procedures relevant to the Parks and Recreation Department.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the sports being supervised.
  • Ability to navigate sensitive or high-pressure situations with professionalism.
  • Familiarity with the necessary equipment for daily operations.
  • Capability to interpret and apply relevant regulations and procedures.
  • Experience working with a diverse population.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment that provides accurate information to participants.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills within established guidelines.
  • Effective communication skills, including poise and confidence.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
  • Moderate to high noise levels.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Ability to remain standing for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift items weighing up to 40 lbs.
