We are seeking an experienced Aircraft Mechanic II to join our team at Sierra Lobo. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing inspections, functional checks, and preventive maintenance on aircraft to ensure they are airworthy and meet regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform inspections and functional checks on aircraft to identify and address any issues or defects.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on aircraft to prevent mechanical failures and ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical issues on aircraft, utilizing various tools and equipment.
- Install research hardware and components on aircraft, and complete airworthiness documentation.
- Comply with in-house aircraft maintenance training and safety regulations, as well as FAA and NASA guidelines.
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a licensed A&P mechanic with an active FAA-IA certification and documented quality assurance experience.
- Associate's degree program or equivalent aviation certification program for aircraft aviation maintenance.
- Extensive knowledge of aircraft, powerplant, and propeller systems.
- Knowledge of aircraft trouble-shooting techniques, military and civilian aviation technical directives, and maintenance publications.
- Basic knowledge of aircraft electrical and avionics systems maintenance.
- Experience in maintenance, modification, and repair of turboprop and jet aircraft.
- Ability to instruct lower-graded mechanics and other personnel in disassembly and re-assembly of crash-damaged engines, transmissions, and other components.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical issues, interpret instructional material and schematics, and analyze results.
- Basic computer skills, including internet research, email, and document control.
- Ability to meet FAA Class III or NASA Aviation medical standards to serve as an in-flight maintenance technician and crew chief.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of scheduled work time to support aircraft project mission requirements.
