Job Responsibilities

The Project Engineer 3 plays a crucial role in supporting the Project Manager with various aspects of project and contract management.

Essential Skills:
  • At least 5 years of experience in the construction industry
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, construction engineering, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience as the primary project engineer on projects valued between $5 million and $15 million
  • Familiarity with US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) processes
  • Certification in USACE Construction Quality Management (CQM)

Key Responsibilities:Safety and Risk Management
  • Prioritizes safety in all aspects of work and conducts regular job site safety evaluations
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of all construction and contract documents, including:
    • Owner contract agreements and general conditions
    • Project plans, manuals, specifications, and geotechnical reports
    • Subcontracts and material agreements
Submittals and Shop Drawings
  • Oversees the entire submittal and shop drawing process, which includes:
    • Organizing, scheduling, submitting, and tracking
    • Conducting comprehensive internal reviews of all submittals and shop drawings prior to submission to the architect
    • Ensuring timely review and return of documents to facilitate efficient project progress
    • Distributing approved documents to relevant trades
Requests for Information (RFIs)
  • Manages the RFI process by receiving, researching, organizing, submitting, tracking, and ensuring prompt resolution
  • Ensures that RFI responses are communicated to all affected parties
Scheduling and Procurement
  • Assists the project team in developing and distributing project schedules based on direction from the Project Manager and Superintendent
  • Coordinates and tracks all activities related to:
    • Subcontractor and supplier procurement
    • Submittals, shop drawings, and approvals
    • Material deliveries and subcontractor mobilization
  • Supports the Project Manager with procurement tasks as needed
Change Orders and Document Control
  • Maintains logs for all project document revisions and tracks changes
  • Processes change order requests from owners and subcontractors
  • Evaluates the impact of changes on project timelines and budgets
  • Distributes change documents to all relevant parties
Owner-Architect Meetings
  • Participates in regular meetings and keeps detailed minutes
Project Closeout
  • Organizes and manages the collection and assembly of project closeout documents, including as-built drawings, revisions, operation and maintenance manuals, warranties, and other required items
  • Ensures timely delivery and receipt of closeout documents and necessary materials
  • Coordinates owner training sessions as required
Additional Responsibilities
  • Assists with permitting and occupancy certificate processes
Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this role, the employee must be able to:

  • Stand, sit, and walk for extended periods
  • Lift and carry weights of at least ten (10) pounds
  • Perform repetitive hand movements for computer and office equipment use
