Key Responsibilities

The Lead Manager, Receivables Operations will oversee the identification and management of customer collection risks within 3PL portfolios. This role involves developing and implementing procedures that align with Cencora's financial objectives. The position will manage the daily operations of Accounts Receivable across Cencora's distribution segments, focusing on process efficiency, team performance, system capabilities, and effective communication with both external and internal stakeholders regarding payment delays.

  • Analyze Accounts Receivable portfolios for trends and potential issues; recommend and execute necessary actions to enhance departmental metrics such as DSO, AR turnover, deductions, and aged accounts.
  • Direct team resources and prioritize tasks to drive operational excellence, consistently improving key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs); provide regular updates on AR metrics and dispute summaries to management.
  • Oversee month-end closing procedures, evaluate collection risks, calculate quarterly AR reserves, and present findings to business leaders for approval.
  • Lead initiatives involving the transition of responsibilities to Shared Services and third parties, as well as enhancements and integrations of AR systems.
  • Facilitate monthly AR meetings with sales and senior management, presenting key statistics such as aging reports and DSO, while addressing service disputes with Sales teams that result in overdue AR balances.
  • Ensure timely investigation and resolution of escalated issues or inquiries.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement through root cause analysis and collaborate with the Senior AR Director and A/R Managers to implement necessary changes.
  • Promote automation of collections processes by evaluating current practices and recommending enhancements.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Credit, and Legal teams to address credit needs, mitigate risks, and resolve issues and disputes promptly.
  • Foster a high-energy culture centered on customer service, positivity, and results.
  • Establish clear objectives for team members and mentor them to support their development and career progression.
  • Maintain comprehensive process documentation, ensuring timely review and approval of process changes.
  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end AR closing processes, ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) controls and fulfilling internal and external audit requirements.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong educational background and extensive experience in the field:

  • A four-year degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Over 10 years of progressive experience in credit and collections management.
  • Proven experience in team management.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to strategize solutions, attention to detail, and excellent organizational and communication abilities.
  • Expertise in analyzing processes and implementing improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and collaborate across various levels of the organization.
  • Adaptability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with credit reporting tools and services.
  • Strong negotiation and collection skills.
