As the Software Engineering Lead, you will oversee a dedicated team responsible for the design and maintenance of software that governs ground system control, planning, and operations for satellite constellations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and cultivate a high-performing team of software engineers tasked with the design and development of ground systems and associated operational software for satellite constellations, while also ensuring the ongoing support of deployed systems.
  • Forge strong partnerships with clients and suppliers to enhance the effectiveness of the Ground Development team's outputs, all while adhering to contractual obligations.
  • Provide mentorship and training to your team by assessing performance, identifying areas for growth, and offering effective solutions to challenges that may affect team productivity.
  • Oversee staffing and strategic planning for the Ground Software Development team, identifying necessary skills for new hires, enhancing existing team capabilities, and supporting ongoing and new government projects.
  • Guide the Ground Development team through cross-functional initiatives, ensuring optimal operational performance while fulfilling all program goals.
  • Be accountable for achieving critical technical objectives and associated milestones and deliverables.
  • Develop a strategic vision for the evolution of development skills, tools, and engineering processes to ensure efficient and effective delivery of system components.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • 15+ years of pertinent experience in the satellite ground development sector, including involvement with U.S. Government satellite initiatives.
  • Prior experience managing a software engineering team.
  • Proficiency in software development, including agile methodologies and a proven track record with large-scale software projects.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of presenting information clearly and facilitating discussions across various employee levels.
  • Adept at motivating and guiding your team while demonstrating a commitment to shared objectives.
  • Possess a collaborative mindset, fostering valuable relationships with executive leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Strategic thinker, consistently seeking innovative and improved methodologies.
  • Exhibit creativity, resourcefulness, and decisiveness in managing risks and addressing critical situations.
  • Demonstrate a strong sense of urgency in driving projects to completion, motivated to achieve results.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects while adhering to deadlines and budget constraints.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in developing satellite space vehicle constellations and ground system components.
  • Familiarity with DoD missions and use cases for space systems.

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
  • U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.

Work Environment:

This role primarily operates from the company office or a home office. The position is predominantly sedentary, involving extensive computer work. Basic office equipment, including a phone, video conferencing tools, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer, will be utilized. In-person meetings may require standing, walking within the office, and occasional stair climbing.
