Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrophysiology Technologist to join our team at Geisinger Health System. As an Electrophysiology Technologist, you will be responsible for performing daily operations in the Electrophysiology Laboratory, providing technical support during electrophydiology and pacemaker procedures, and providing appropriate patient care during these procedures.

Job Duties
  1. Perform daily procedures in the electrophysiology laboratory, including radio-frequency catheter ablations, pacemaker implants, ICD implants, tilt table tests, direct current cardioversions, and intracardiac ultrasound-Doppler.
  2. Maintain and troubleshoot electrophysiology laboratory equipment to ensure operability and safety, calibrate equipment, and perform routine preventative maintenance procedures.
  3. Perform emergency therapeutic maneuvers during procedures, including initiating life support techniques in the event of a cardiac and respiratory arrest.
  4. Assist the physician in the preparation of the patient, assist during the procedure, and provide all appropriate services to safely and efficiently complete patient procedures.
  5. Provide assistance in evaluation and analysis of pulse generators during pacemaker procedures and pacemaker clinic.
  6. Analyze and file electrocardiographic data utilizing digital computer analysis systems and paper filing systems.
  7. Practice sterile technique preparing for procedure, including scrubbing, applying surgical gown, gloving, draping, and setup of instrument table.
  8. Responsible for primary and secondary hemostasis during and after procedure.
  9. Participate in departmental quality control and quality assurance initiatives and Joint Commission-mandated educational programs.
  10. Perform appropriate billing for services rendered or equipment used as related to electrophysiology.
  11. Assist with the training and orientation within the department.
  12. Assist with ongoing clinical research trials pertinent to the electrophysiology laboratory.
Requirements

Graduation from an accredited Cardiovascular Technology Program and exam eligible required. International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) or RCES (Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist) status required after two years of hire. RCES/RCIS preferred. OR - Applicants who hold an ARRT certification as a Radiology Tech are required to maintain the ARRT certification.
