Job Title: Construction Specialist I

At Michael Baker International, we are seeking a highly skilled Construction Specialist I to join our team in Harrisburg, PA. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for overseeing all field construction activities, including project management and adherence to schedule, budget, and specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance with plans, contract documents, specifications, and standards.
  • Assign, schedule, and maintain inspection staff throughout all phases of the project.
  • Review and maintain all project documentation, ensuring it accurately details construction progress, activities, and materials, meets environmental permitting conditions, complies with safety policies and programs, and monitors EEO and DBE progress and performance.
  • Prepare, review, and submit project inspection reports to the client.
  • Draft, review, and submit work authorizations, work orders, and estimates.
  • Notify contractors of non-compliance and corrective action.
  • Review, analyze, and evaluate contractor schedules.
  • Track project progress and advise parties of possible overruns and critical project issues.
  • Attend pre-bid, pre-construction, and/or management-level meetings throughout the project, assist the client with change orders, claim defense, and provide updates on construction progress and issues.
  • Interact with the public, government agencies, contractors, subcontractors, and other internal and external parties to respond to inquiries.
  • Work on behalf of the client to draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction-related field issues.
Requirements:
  • 5-7 years of related experience.
  • Two-year degree.
