Maintenance Supervisor Job Description

The Maintenance Supervisor will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient maintenance of our facilities and equipment. This position will be responsible for assisting the Maintenance Manager in maintaining a safe and operational state of readiness at all times, meeting daily production requirements, and minimizing production downtime.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a team of up to 15 employees in the Maintenance department, providing direction, coordination, and evaluation of their work.
  • Assist the Maintenance Manager in maintaining the facility and equipment, including lubrication, inspections, and engineering sanitation schedules.
  • Supervise the established preventative maintenance program to minimize production downtime.
  • Participate in the selection, training, and development of engineering department staff.
  • Assist in scheduling engineering staff to support production and non-production hours.
  • Maintain the engineering department's shop and equipment on an ongoing basis.
  • Assist in purchasing and maintaining proper inventory levels of equipment spare parts.
  • Consult with the Maintenance Manager on long- and short-term improvement needs.
  • Assist the Maintenance Manager in managing the engineering department within policy and budgetary guidelines.
  • Facilitate open communication with subordinates and department heads to ensure equipment problems are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Maintain comprehensive and complete engineering records, including preventative maintenance schedules, machine history, purchase orders, equipment manuals, and capital expenditure requests.
  • Contribute to the production of a consistent quality product through maintaining and updating facility engineering practices.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships and two-way communication with co-workers and other personnel throughout the Company.
  • Support and participate in special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and five years of related bakery or food maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years of related bakery or food maintenance experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as production schedules, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Shift: 2nd

Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000
