Job Purpose

The primary role involves collaborating within a team to ensure the seamless functioning of the cement manufacturing facility and associated underground operations, aiming to enhance operational productivity in a culture of ongoing training and enhancement. Responsibilities include the maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of mechanical, mobile, and electrical systems in alignment with safety protocols and operational standards.

Reporting Structure

The Industrial Equipment Technician will report to the Maintenance Coordinator, Maintenance Supervisor, or Maintenance Inspector, who in turn report to the Maintenance Manager, ultimately accountable to the Plant Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Conduct mechanical maintenance and repair of mobile and underground mining equipment.
  2. Engage in fabrication, assembly, welding, and cutting tasks, adhering to best maintenance practices to ensure high equipment reliability.
  3. Dismantle, repair, and reassemble complex mechanical and electrical systems.
  4. Participate in the Continuous Improvement Group to address daily maintenance and electrical challenges.
  5. Implement proactive and predictive maintenance utilizing advanced diagnostic tools (e.g., thermography, vibration analysis, ultrasound, oil analysis).
Accountabilities
  1. Identify and troubleshoot potential issues to sustain maximum productivity.
  2. Communicate maintenance concerns to the relevant supervisor or engineer and engage in corrective actions as necessary.
  3. Stay informed on maintenance and safety procedural updates and contribute to the development of new protocols.
  4. Perform preventive inspections and document findings as directed by the maintenance coordinator and improvement teams.
  5. Lead and support major repair initiatives to ensure operational continuity.
  6. Maintain cleanliness and organization to promote a safe and efficient work environment.
  7. Complete work orders and assist in the management of materials as needed.
  8. Safely operate mobile equipment to fulfill assigned duties.
  9. Recognize, report, and assist in resolving safety and environmental issues impacting employee health and safety.
  10. Work independently and collaboratively with team members.
  11. Document daily activities and contribute to reports on special projects or incidents, utilizing computer systems for work order management.
  12. Assume crew leader responsibilities as required in accordance with union agreements.
  13. Perform additional tasks as assigned, including working various shifts and being available for emergency call-outs.
  14. Support operations in underground mining and maintenance departments as needed.
Qualifications

Education & Experience: High School diploma or GED with a minimum of five years of relevant experience in mechanical or electrical maintenance, including shift repair or quarry equipment repair. Trade or technical certification is advantageous.

Language Skills: Proficient in reading and interpreting safety regulations, operational guidelines, and maintenance manuals. Effective communication with colleagues and supervisors is essential, along with the ability to write routine reports.

Mathematical Skills: Competent in calculating figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, and volumes.

Reasoning Ability: Capable of solving practical problems and addressing various concrete variables with limited guidelines. Ability to interpret instructions in various formats.

Certifications:
  • Valid Driver's License
  • ATF License/Clearance
  • MSHA 40-Hour Training
  • Trade certificate or equivalent experience
Physical Requirements:

Employees may encounter moving mechanical parts, high places, airborne particles, and varying weather conditions. Regular exposure to wet or humid conditions, electrical equipment, and noise levels ranging from moderate to loud is expected.
