The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Physical Therapy is offering an exciting opportunity for a per diem Physical Therapist to provide services in a clinical setting. The Physical Therapist is responsible for delivering physical therapy and wellness services to patients experiencing impairments, functional limitations, or alterations in physical function and health status due to various causes. This role is essential in assisting patients to regain function, enhance mobility, alleviate pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities. The Physical Therapist collaborates with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, including physicians, occupational therapists, and psychologists.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Conducts evaluations of new patients, sets goals, and formulates suitable treatment plans.
  • Records all evaluations, treatments, and relevant patient interactions daily.
  • Educates patients and their families about medical conditions and provides guidance for home activities.
  • Communicates with physicians and their staff to gather necessary information and recommends treatment adjustments.
  • Employs treatment tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Maintains an acceptable productivity level and shows readiness to modify personal schedules in response to clinic needs.
  • Engages in quality and safety improvement initiatives.
  • Guides and instructs assistants and support personnel in their work activities.
  • Utilizes appropriate methods and materials for educational programs, assesses their effectiveness, and adapts them as needed.
  • Complies with University and departmental policies and procedures, ensuring the protection of University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Doctoral degree in a relevant field.
  • Florida Department of Health PT license.
  • 2-3 years of experience in physical therapy is preferred.

DEPARTMENT ADDENDUM

Department Specific Functions:

The Department of Physical Therapy is seeking to hire a Physical Therapist I for a limited-funded Department of Defense (DoD) grant. The Research Physical Therapist will provide clinical support and assist in data collection for all study subjects' appointments. This position is contingent upon grant funding for continued employment.

The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for the following:

  • Assisting in the planning and coordination of research study activities.
  • Communicating with physicians, physical therapists, and community members to recruit study subjects.
  • Participating in quality and safety improvement initiatives.
  • Establishing and implementing policies and procedures related to research activities.
  • Coordinating and assisting with data collection.
