The Gateway Region YMCA is seeking a dedicated Early Childhood Education Assistant to support our Child Care Teacher in fostering a nurturing and educational environment for children.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in executing the curriculum as directed by the Child Care Teacher or Director.
  • Encourage children's development through intentional programming aimed at promoting achievement and fostering connections among children and their families.
  • Provide opportunities for children to develop self-sufficiency and independence.
  • Conduct regular observations of children and complete developmental assessments consistently.
  • Support children who may require additional assistance.
  • Engage with parents and families, facilitating their connection to the YMCA community.
  • Exercise sound judgment and discretion in alignment with YMCA policies.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with a diverse range of individuals, including staff, parents, volunteers, and program administration, demonstrating excellent public relations skills.
  • Adhere to YMCA policies and guidelines at all times.
  • Ensure a safe and supportive environment for all children.
  • Plan and execute activities that are developmentally appropriate.
  • Uphold a strict zero tolerance policy for abuse and actively participate in safeguarding youth and teens.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Experience working with children is essential.
  • Currently pursuing a CDA, Associate's, or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred.
  • Ability to connect with children, parents, staff, and volunteers effectively.
