Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement training programs for detection canines, focusing on behavioral learning and conditioning principles.
- Handle and care for canines from birth to adulthood, ensuring their physical and mental needs are met.
- Transport canines locally and remotely, occasionally requiring overnight travel.
- Assist in planning and developing training and acclimation programs, collaborating with team members to achieve program goals.
- May guide and instruct trainees, students, or volunteers, and perform other duties as necessary to support the Canine Performance Sciences Program.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high school diploma and relevant experience in animal behavior and husbandry, working dog handling and training, and/or research.
- Strong understanding of behavioral principles and animal learning and conditioning.
- Basic knowledge of safety practices, sanitation, and biosecurity in working with performance-bred dogs.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
