Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement training programs for detection canines, focusing on behavioral learning and conditioning principles.
  • Handle and care for canines from birth to adulthood, ensuring their physical and mental needs are met.
  • Transport canines locally and remotely, occasionally requiring overnight travel.
  • Assist in planning and developing training and acclimation programs, collaborating with team members to achieve program goals.
  • May guide and instruct trainees, students, or volunteers, and perform other duties as necessary to support the Canine Performance Sciences Program.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma and relevant experience in animal behavior and husbandry, working dog handling and training, and/or research.
  • Strong understanding of behavioral principles and animal learning and conditioning.
  • Basic knowledge of safety practices, sanitation, and biosecurity in working with performance-bred dogs.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
