Under general supervision, the Social Services Team Leader is responsible for planning, organizing, and overseeing a team of social service and employment personnel who provide essential information and referral services, protective services for adults and children, in-home support, and employment assistance.
Key Responsibilities:
As the first supervisory level in the series, the Social Services Team Leader differentiates from lower classifications by serving as the primary supervisor. This role also differs from higher supervisory levels, which require advanced degrees.
The incumbent will:
• Supervise and mentor a diverse group of social workers and support staff.
• Guide social workers in delivering counseling and support to clients with complex needs.
• Review and approve essential documentation such as court reports and placement applications.
Essential Duties:
• Facilitate communication between staff and management, ensuring clarity on departmental expectations and changes.
• Authorize the provision of social and employment services, making referrals as necessary.
• Document and address client concerns, maintaining effective relationships with clients, families, and community organizations.
Qualifications:
• Knowledge of supervisory principles, social service administration, and casework techniques.
• Ability to analyze situations, make sound decisions, and maintain confidentiality in accordance with legal standards.
Minimum Requirements:
• Three years of experience in social work case management or equivalent qualifications as outlined in the job specifications.
