Support Staff/Special Education Assistant
Location:
Parma City School District
Reports To: Building Principal/Special Education Supervisor
Work Schedule: 7.5 hours per day, Monday through Friday
Compensation: Starting annual salary of $29,240.00
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- A minimum of 48 semester hours in secondary education or successful completion of the PRAXIS PARAPRO exam
- Preferred experience of one to two years working with students with disabilities
- Must meet the educational requirements of the "No Child Left Behind Act"
- Ability to apply for an Educational Aide Permit with the Ohio Department of Education
- Competence in managing students, including those exhibiting aggressive or inappropriate behavior
- Effective communication skills for conveying ideas and directives
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing environments
- Responsibility for supervising students
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques for maintaining appropriate school discipline
- Physical capability to assist, lift, or manage students with disabilities
- Proficiency in clerical tasks and familiarity with office equipment
- Previous experience with computers is advantageous
- Consistent attendance and punctuality are essential.
