Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Bus Driver to join our team at South Suburban Parks and Recreation. As a key member of our transportation team, you will be responsible for providing safe and reliable transportation to our patrons, ensuring a positive experience for all.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate a bus safely and efficiently, adhering to all driving laws and regulations.
  • Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections to ensure the bus is in good working condition.
  • Provide excellent customer service, greeting patrons in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Regulate heating, cooling, lighting, and ventilating systems to ensure patron comfort.
  • Conduct post-trip inspections to note any damage or defects.
  • Report any safety or maintenance issues to management.
  • Maintain a clean bus, removing trash and securing lost articles.
  • Exercise good judgment and practice proper safety precautions at all times.
Requirements
  • Must be 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience driving in a public or private transportation role is preferred.
  • Commercial Driver License (CDL), Class C, and the ability to pass a post-offer, pre-employment DOT physical and drug test is required.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License and be insurable by the District carrier.
  • Possession of current certifications in CPR/AED and First Aid is required.
Working Environment

This position requires regular driving in a variety of weather conditions, ecosystems, and landscapes. You will be exposed to adverse conditions such as dust, noise, and extremes in temperature. You will also be required to negotiate streets with heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic in all types of weather and lighting conditions.

Physical Requirements

This position requires sufficient physical ability and mobility to safely operate a motor vehicle, walk, stand, and sit for prolonged periods of time. You will also be required to frequently stoop, reach, twist, and grasp, lift, carry, push, and/or pull/drag objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
