About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Center Engineer to join our team at LinkedIn. As a Data Center Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, building, and maintaining our data centers, ensuring the stability, reliability, and security of our critical IT infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and develop fit-out designs for new sites and site expansions, ensuring compliance with LinkedIn's resiliency standards.
  • Develop and ensure accuracy of striping plans and fail-over designs.
  • Develop electrical models and calculations to support our document repository and as-built documents.
  • Support data center fit-outs, ensuring proper compliance with electrical design, testing, and schedule adherence.
  • Develop, review, and supervise commissioning of new data center spaces and maintenance events.
  • Develop a comprehensive maintenance program in coordination with data center providers and internal stakeholders.
  • Support engineering investigations and root cause analysis for any outage events.
  • Ensure documentation is captured, stored, referenced, and shared with field engineering and operation teams.
  • Review maintenance notifications for impact and ensure proper risk classifications and resolutions.
  • Train and support onsite personnel to diagnose electrical issues such as phase balancing, overcurrent protection, and monitoring accuracy.
  • Test and evaluate new electrical components for installation into LinkedIn's data centers.
  • Work with our partner teams to properly plan for future hardware and capacity needs.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Process Engineering.
  • 7+ years of experience in defining, designing, and operating data center critical infrastructure.
  • 5+ years in direct data center construction experience.
  • Experience creating and/or executing large-scale critical infrastructure maintenance and reliability programs.
  • Ability to create clear, consistent, and understandable technical documentation to be leveraged by partner teams.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE), Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP), Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer (CEng), or Project Management Professional (PMP).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctorate Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Reliability Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years technical project management, program management, mission-critical electrical infrastructure.
  • 12+ years in direct data center construction experience at a data center provider or constructor.
  • Experience in management, engineering, or operations of hyperscale data center critical environments.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and/or Revit as well as implementation or maintenance of DCIM applications.
  • Ability to manage, prioritize, and successfully execute multiple concurrent mission-critical projects and communicate effectively to drive standards and consensus across multiple levels of the organization.
