Job Title: Data Center Chief Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Center Chief Engineer to join our team at Element Critical. As a key member of our facilities operations team, you will be responsible for the overall management and maintenance of our critical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership and oversight to the site facilities team, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of critical systems.
  • Oversee the operation and management of routine and emergency services on various critical systems, including power distribution, cooling, and fire suppression.
  • Ensure that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment is operating at peak efficiency, including planned preventative maintenance and emergency response.
  • Serve as an expert technical resource, interacting with onsite technicians, engineers, and third-party vendors.
  • Identify and mitigate safety hazards within the building, ensuring a safe working environment for staff and occupants.
  • Develop and implement safety training programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory laws and guidelines.
  • Oversee the maintenance and continuous operation of all building systems, including fire/life safety, mechanical, electrical, and lighting systems.
  • Develop, write, and regularly review MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs for critical maintenance and operations.
  • Assist in the development of a capital plan, ensuring infrastructure upgrades, equipment replacements, and building modifications meet future needs.
  • Deliver quality service, ensuring all customer demands are met, and providing constructive thought leadership on ways to improve service and reduce expenses.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Equivalent work experience or trade school, associate's or bachelor's degree in an applicable engineering field or mechanical or electrical trades.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in a data center or critical environment.
  • 2-5 years of leadership experience preferred.
  • Ability to work under pressure, multitask, and direct and manage teams.
  • Strong writing, verbal, and interpersonal skills, with a strong quantitative and analytical ability.
  • Ability to develop and document procedures, train personnel, and communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and contractors.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to walk job sites in uneven terrain, work at heights, and lift up to 49 pounds.
  • Ability to work shifts up to 12 hours in duration, performing physical tasks without becoming overly tired.
  • Ability to coordinate body movements, reach, stretch, bend, and twist while working.
