About the Role

This is a key position on a collaborative project team at Expeditors, responsible for the design and production of mission-critical, enterprise-scale business systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate business requirements into system design specifications and implement systems throughout the entire software development life cycle.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the logistics business domain and maintain awareness of evolving technologies in use by other teams at Expeditors and in the technology industry.
  • Participate in the design and technical direction of the system.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure system meets business needs and is scalable for future growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field of study, or equivalent experience.
  • Basic knowledge of Java and experience with source control systems, preferably Git.
  • At least 2 years in a software development role in a team environment.
  • Experience with web development and customer service-oriented attitude and time-management skills.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience developing front-end web interfaces and experience with Gitlab.
  • Experience with either IBM DB2 or PostGres relational database management systems (RDBMS) and Agile/SAFe familiarity and/or certification.
  • Knowledge of Java-based development frameworks such as Spring and Maven and web-based and service-based architectures and deployment paradigms.
  • Experience with Linux operating systems, preferably RedHat and experience managing and processing very large datasets.
