About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the team at Beaufort County Schools as a Paraprofessional. As a key member of the educational support staff, you will play a vital role in ensuring the success of students with special needs.

Responsibilities
  • Provide instructional support to students under the guidance of a certified classroom teacher.
  • Assist with classroom management and supervision, adhering to established routines and procedures.
  • Act as a liaison between the classroom teacher and substitute teachers, ensuring a smooth transition of responsibilities.
  • Support students with special needs by implementing provisions outlined in their IEPs/504 Plans.
  • Supervise students in various settings, including the cafeteria, schoolyard, and hallways.
  • Monitor student behavior and progress, maintaining accurate records and reporting to the classroom teacher and/or school administrator.
  • Perform administrative tasks as directed, such as recording grades and preparing instructional materials.
  • Attend to students' physical, personal, and emotional needs, providing assistance with translation and hygiene when necessary.
  • Promote a safe and orderly classroom environment, taking all reasonable precautions to protect students, facilities, and materials.
  • Assist with bus loading and unloading during arrival and departure of students.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and cooperation in performing other related duties as assigned by school administration and ESS.
  • Understand and adhere to all ESS and school district policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • 60 college credits or more, or a passing score on the parapro exam.
  • Criminal History Clearance.
  • Tuberculosis Test.
  • Must be 19 years or older.
