The Rehabilitation Specialist is responsible for delivering comprehensive rehabilitation services to patients, which encompasses screening and assessment, crafting treatment plans, executing treatment strategies, ongoing evaluation and adjustment of treatment, planning for discharge, and meticulous documentation. The Specialist also engages in program development and protocol formulation as needed, contributing to the achievement of team objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducts assessment services, including reviewing relevant historical data, performing specific evaluations, and formulating recommendations while documenting results. Communicates assessment outcomes and treatment strategies to patients and their families, ensuring their involvement in goal-setting.
  • Exhibits expertise in executing treatment protocols based on assessment results, patient conditions, and the dynamic healthcare landscape. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals as necessary. Identifies and records any changes in the patient's condition that necessitate adjustments to the care plan or additional medical/rehabilitation consultations.
  • Completes thorough discharge planning and follow-up care. Ensures accurate and timely documentation and billing for patient care activities, providing a clear narrative of the patient's treatment journey, including initial evaluations, daily notes, progress summaries, and discharge assessments.
  • Demonstrates effective time management skills and meets productivity standards. Maintains an organized schedule. Shows a professional commitment to facilitating seamless patient access to care through adaptability, creativity, and empathetic behaviors in a patient-centered environment.
  • Takes proactive steps in pursuing ongoing education for personal and organizational growth. Acts as a clinical mentor for students and assists in the orientation and training of new staff, students, volunteers, and technicians.
Qualifications:
  • Possession of a Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure in Maryland, the District of Columbia (DC), and/or Virginia as required for your specific location(s).
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association.
