Job Overview

Position: Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver

Are you dedicated to making a difference in the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities? We are looking for compassionate candidates who thrive in a supportive, family-oriented environment. As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will play a crucial role in ensuring the health and well-being of the residents under our care while fostering a warm, home-like atmosphere.

The DSP acts as a hands-on caregiver, providing essential support to individuals with intellectual and developmental challenges. You will engage in various responsibilities within well-maintained residences managed by Sertoma. In this role, you will assist individuals by delivering compassionate care, motivation, and guidance throughout their daily activities. Our organization operates 34 homes, each accommodating 1-4 individuals who greatly value your dedicated support. Sertoma ensures a manageable workload by assigning a maximum of 4 individuals to each DSP.

Employment Type:

  • Full-time with opportunities for overtime
  • Part-time (minimum of 20-24 hours per week)

Compensation:

  • Day Shift: $15.37 per hour (8 AM to 8 PM)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide care for 1 to 4 individuals at a time.
  • Assist with personal and health-related tasks, including hygiene, feeding, mobility, and medical monitoring.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of confidential information on a daily basis.
  • Ensure the safety of individuals by maintaining a secure environment.
  • Build positive relationships with individuals supported.
  • Accompany individuals to scheduled appointments.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic work environment
  • Leadership qualities
  • Physical capability to perform tasks such as bending, lifting, and standing

Employment Requirements:

  • No prior experience in DSP or caregiving required
  • CNAs are encouraged to apply (CNA certification is not mandatory for this role)
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license
  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Minimum age of 19 years
  • At least 3 years of driving experience
  • No more than 3 moving violations in the past 3 years
  • No felony convictions
  • Bilingual fluency is a plus
