About This Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Scientist to join our team at the Department of Diagnostic Medicine/Pathobiology, College of Veterinary Medicine at Kansas State University. As a Research Scientist, you will be responsible for developing independent research in the field of vaccine development and immunology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement research projects in vaccine development and immunology
  • Conduct hands-on research in cellular and molecular biology, including vaccine development and testing
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement research projects
  • Present research findings at national and international conferences
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals

Requirements

  • PhD in Molecular Biology/Immunology/Vaccinology or related field
  • Post-doctoral training in Immunology/Vaccinology
  • Hands-on experience in vaccine development and testing, including live-vectored subunit vaccines and recombinant protein expression
  • Experience with analysis and interpretation of vaccine response data from swine and cattle
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with proposal development and grant writing
  • Skills in bioinformatics and FACS
  • Hands-on skills in generating and maintaining primary swine and bovine fibroblasts
  • Attention to details, neat, well organized and able to multi-task
