Job Title: Export Control Officer

Join our team as an Export Control Officer and play a critical role in ensuring the compliance of our research activities with federal laws and university policies.

About the Role:

The Export Control Officer will be responsible for the development, implementation, and administration of the OSU export control program. This includes coordinating with the Senior Export Control Manager to support the OSU Enterprise for Research, Innovation, and Knowledge. The successful candidate will be the key point of contact for internal and external inquiries regarding export controls and will assist the Senior Export Control Manager in overseeing and monitoring export control processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement best-practices in export controls, including record keeping, identifying export-control requirements in sponsored research, assessing international shipping and travel for export compliance, and creating training and education programs for faculty and staff.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Export Control Manager and Export Control team to implement export control policies and procedures.
  • Manage Technology Control Plans (TCPs), including drafting and security approval of TCPs and annual TCP auditing.
  • Engage with university, government, and industry stakeholders to ensure compliance with export control regulations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physical Sciences, Business Administration, Public Affairs, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least 4 years of relevant experience in research administration, export controls, or research support.
  • Experience in implementation/oversight of an export control program in a major university or corporate environment.
  • Knowledge of federal export control regulations, including those pursuant to EAR, ITAR, OFAC, and National Security Decision Directive 189.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Engineering, Physical Sciences, Business Administration, Public Affairs.
  • Sponsored research and compliance experience in higher education.
  • Extensive experience creating and implementing compliance strategies and technology control programs.
What We Offer:

We offer a competitive salary range of $69,400-$91,250, depending on experience and qualifications. We are open to considering candidates interested in hybrid arrangements.
