As a Direct Support Professional, you'll play a vital role in creating a positive and inclusive environment that fosters growth, independence, and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:- Represent Open Arms Care Corporation in a professional and positive manner in community meetings, events, and social functions.
- Provide day-to-day organization and implementation of activities that promote a positive and organized environment, ensuring a person-centered approach.
- Make decisions regarding best practices, quality assurance, risk management, and problem-solving, including timely response to and documentation of serious injuries.
- Coach, teach, and mentor individuals in all aspects of home management and personal independence, promoting individual rights and self-advocacy.
- Engage clients in ongoing, meaningful active treatment and implement programs and services according to individual support plans (ISPs) and CMS regulations.
- Advocate for each client's specific needs and personal welfare in the home and community, ensuring follow-up when concerns are identified.
- Assist with coordinating, scheduling, and transporting clients to appointments and recreational activities, ensuring all required documents, files, and reports are prepared, reviewed, approved, and processed in a timely manner.
- Provide accurate documentation of client participation and progress in training objectives and programs, ensuring day-to-day assigned tasks are completed.
- Communicate and participate in the inter-disciplinary process, including individual support plans (ISPs), behavior management, incident reports, and other relevant activities.
- Interact with clients' family members/conservators and maintain positive relationships internally and externally.
- Attend required trainings, meetings, and remain current on all certifications.
- Provide support and services to all clients across the local operation when necessary.
- Transport clients to medical appointments, Enrichment Center, and client outings as assigned.
- Responsible for maintaining work schedules, dependability, and accurately documenting time worked.
- Carry out responsibilities and duties in a professional, timely, effective, and efficient manner, including other job duties as assigned.
- High school graduate and/or GED preferred.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to lift repetitively a minimum of 50 pounds, with tasks including lifting, repositioning, turning, bending, and squatting.
- Good oral, written, and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with others.
