Position Title: REEF Support Teacher

Compensation: $17.50-$20.50/hourly (Part-time)
Position Overview: Are you passionate about nurturing children's growth? Do you aspire to lead engaging classes and share your enthusiasm with young learners? If so, the REEF program at Washington Yu Ying is seeking dynamic, open-minded individuals eager to make a meaningful difference in children's lives.
The REEF aftercare initiative is on the lookout for innovative and enthusiastic support staff. This rewarding role involves promoting the intellectual development of children, engaging with them daily, and building trusting relationships with students, families, and educators. This position serves as an excellent entry point into the field of childhood development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in coordinating before and aftercare (REEF) programs for designated classrooms.
- Support the execution of daily activities planned by Lead Teachers.
- Lead classroom activities multiple times each week.
- Monitor student behavior to encourage growth and celebrate achievements.
- Enhance student engagement through positivity and encouragement.
- Develop creative methods to make learning enjoyable and lead your own activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues to foster student engagement and education.
- Facilitate activities designed by Lead Teachers in their absence and consult with the REEF Team Lead or Manager for any queries.
- Anticipate the needs of teachers and students to ensure smooth operations.
- Supervise and guarantee student safety during aftercare activities.
- Ensure full student engagement in REEF classes.
- Assist in managing transitions between classes and group activities.
- Help supervise students during field trips, ensuring safe transitions.
- Support Lead Teachers in maintaining cleanliness and organization of materials used during REEF programs.
- Ensure Lead Teachers have the necessary materials for their classes.
- Assist with various REEF operational tasks as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Friendly and approachable demeanor; ability to connect well with children and staff.
- Experience in before-and-aftercare program management is advantageous.
- Basic technology skills, including proficiency in Google Suite, especially Gmail; Mac experience preferred.
- Self-motivated with strong time management skills and the ability to work independently.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong motivational abilities.

Terms of Employment: 10 Months
