Position Overview

Summary of Role

The Director of Program Operations is a full-time position, requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week (exempt, benefits available). This role reports directly to the Chief Program Officer and plays a crucial part in supporting a team of Directors responsible for executing daily programming across various locations. The programming encompasses individual and group activities, as well as events occurring during and after school hours. The Director will oversee the delivery of high-quality programming and the planning and execution of events that may include sports and connections to additional social services. This position necessitates some local travel, which will be reimbursed. Compensation will be based on experience. This role is conducted in-person.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of Program Directors.
  • Travel to various sites in different communities as required by program needs.
  • Ensure achievement of enrollment targets.
  • Effectively communicate goals, objectives, and updates to the team.
  • Maintain alignment of Directors with policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Provide timely technical support to Directors.
  • Ensure program compliance with strategic goals, objectives, and policies.
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Data and Program Evaluation and the Grants Manager to ensure all program deliverables are met as outlined in contracts.
  • Stay informed about grant requirements and participate in necessary reporting.
  • Adopt a coaching approach to leadership.
  • Act as the primary contact for the Operations department during partner meetings.
  • Prepare documentation, receipts, and correspondence for program evaluation and timely reporting.
  • Conduct regular follow-ups with staff to ensure goal attainment.
  • Assist in the annual budgeting process and strategic planning.
  • Review and approve credit card reports and timecards.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Leadership team regarding program status updates.
  • Ensure that program lessons and activities are age-appropriate, relevant, effective, safe, and inclusive.
  • Implement regular evaluations and surveys with Directors, participants, and team members to assess programming quality.
  • Provide supervision through on-site visits, regular check-ins, and planning meetings.
  • Encourage collaboration with partner organizations whenever possible.
  • Assess the effectiveness of programming methods and strategies, focusing on best practices and research-based approaches.
  • Ensure accuracy in budget management and documentation.
  • Participate in and lead necessary evaluations and audits.
  • Exemplify the values of New Life Centers.
  • Attend required meetings and training sessions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Certification as a Mandated Reporter is required (training provided).
  • Successful completion of a background check is mandatory, with no pending cases.
  • Must pass a Child Abuse and Neglect Tracking System background check.
  • Must pass a National Sex Offender Registry background check.
  • A working phone and phone number are required.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in the human services field, particularly in direct services to at-risk youth.
  • At least three years of experience in a management role.
  • Demonstrated cross-cultural competency.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Willingness to be trained and effectively use relevant databases and information tracking systems.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of participant and staff information.
  • Ability to build and sustain effective working relationships.
  • A valid driver's license in Illinois, insurance, a good driving record, and access to a vehicle are required, subject to a driving background check.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but not mandatory.
