Overview: Virginia Commonwealth University Health System is seeking a dedicated Practical Nurse to join our vibrant team at the Fredericksburg Adult Multispecialty Clinic. Our clinic is committed to delivering exceptional surgical services and comprehensive care to adults in the surrounding regions.


Clinical Focus: Our healthcare providers specialize in various areas including:

We also offer walk-in lab services for adult patients.


Team Environment: Our clinical team comprises a diverse group of professionals, including RNs, LPNs, and CMAs, all working collaboratively to enhance patient outcomes and experiences. The clinic operates Monday through Friday, with staff working 8-hour shifts.


Role Responsibilities: As a Practical Nurse, you will:

  • Utilize your technical skills and theoretical knowledge to address the needs of patients and their families.
  • Assist the healthcare team in preventing illness and injury, maintaining wellness, and providing comfort.
  • Deliver and accurately document direct, age-specific care based on medical orders and a multidisciplinary care plan.
  • Safely administer prescribed medications while identifying potential incompatibilities and interactions.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Required: Current LPN Licensure in Virginia.
  • Certification: AHA BLS Certification or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Required: Experience varies based on transitional duty assignment.
  • Preferred: Previous experience as an LPN in an acute care setting or relevant area of practice.

Education:

  • Required: Graduation from a Board of Nursing approved School of Practical Nursing.
  • Preferred: N/A

Independent Actions: You will follow documented physician orders and practice guidelines while organizing your work to fulfill assignments.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry weight as required.
  • Exposure to potentially hazardous and infectious substances.

Activities: The role involves prolonged standing, sitting, frequent bending, walking, climbing, and reaching.


Mental and Emotional Requirements: Strong recall, reasoning, problem-solving skills, and the ability to adapt to frequent changes in a dynamic environment.
