**Job Summary:**

This role is a 100% Remote opportunity in California, where you will assist attorneys in managing family law or employment law cases from inception to resolution.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Assist attorneys in managing family law or employment law cases from inception to resolution, ensuring timely and effective case management.
  • Maintain and organize client files, ensuring all documents are up-to-date and easily accessible, adhering to Ascendion's document management standards.
  • Draft, proofread, and finalize legal documents such as pleadings, motions, subpoenas, discovery requests/responses, and settlement agreements, demonstrating strong writing and editing skills.
  • Perform legal research to support case strategies, including identifying relevant statutes, regulations, and case law, staying up-to-date with industry developments.
  • File legal documents with the appropriate courts and agencies, ensuring compliance with filing deadlines and local rules, maintaining Ascendion's reputation for professionalism.
  • Assist attorneys in preparing for court appearances, including organizing exhibits and witness lists, ensuring seamless courtroom presentations.

**Qualifications:**

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field, with paralegal certification preferred.
  • Experience as a paralegal, with significant experience in family law or employment law, demonstrating expertise in relevant areas.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with attorneys, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal case management software, with the ability to adapt to new systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, maintaining Ascendion's high standards for productivity and efficiency.
