Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Engineering Planning Supervisor to join our team at Vets Hired. This role will be responsible for leading the planning team in the preparation of utility engineering designs, system analyses, and work orders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Analysis: Review system capacity and reliability studies, protection settings, electrical designs, and proposed projects for accuracy.
  • Project Management: Schedule and assign projects and daily work to the planning team, and lead large technical projects and programs as assigned by the Manager, System Engineering.
  • Standards and Guidelines: Develop, evaluate, and maintain standards, guidelines, best practices, and policies for the development of engineering designs and system analyses.
  • Team Development: Mentor and instruct direct reports in technical engineering principles, identify training opportunities, and ensure adherence to company policies and safety rules.
  • Communication: Provide guidance and direction for professional communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Performance Evaluation: Evaluate the performance and development of direct reports throughout the year and provide constructive feedback as needed.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with peers in Distribution Design, GIS, Standards, Work Management, Substation and Telecommunications, Metering, Operations, and Construction to complete projects in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Budget Management: Participate in developing the System Engineering & Planning department manpower, training, and operating budgets, and maintain cost control for assigned budgets.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead continuous improvement efforts to identify efficiencies and new improvements.
  • Industry Knowledge: Attend utility conferences and sponsored events to increase industry knowledge, network with utility peers, and market the company.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong background in utility engineering, excellent leadership and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
