Our organization is expanding, and we are looking for a skilled individual to fill the role of Medical Receptionist Benefits Coordinator.
The Medical Receptionist Benefits Coordinator will primarily be responsible for managing reception duties within our Optometry Department. This includes overseeing patient check-in processes, new patient registration, insurance verification, data entry, and various clerical tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome and check in patients for their appointments, ensuring adherence to departmental protocols, including verifying patient identity and updating demographic information as necessary.
- Conduct insurance verification for all patients, identifying any issues with coverage and referring patients to a Health Benefit Advisor when needed.
- Assist patients in completing Sliding Fee Scale applications in accordance with Health Center policies.
- Provide new patients with essential information regarding Center programs, services, Patient Rights, and HIPAA regulations.
- Educate patients about their health plan options and assist them in selecting appropriate insurance coverage accepted by the health center.
- Handle inquiries from patients seeking medical services, ensuring proper procedures are followed.
- Input necessary information into the Electronic Practice Management system and manage documentation flow to facilitate patient services.
- Respond to phone calls promptly, exercising good judgment and following site protocols.
- Maintain recall lists and communicate with patients as required, adhering to established protocols.
- Participate in departmental and organization-wide meetings and contribute to special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Bilingual proficiency in English/Spanish or English/Portuguese is preferred; other languages may be considered based on Health Center needs.
- Proficient computer skills, including typing and familiarity with Microsoft Word and data entry.
- Strong customer service and communication abilities.
- All employees must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and Influenza.
