This Protective & Marine Chemist I position is responsible for driving the development and commercialization of coatings solutions in the United States and Canada. The successful candidate will be accountable for providing timely and accurate solutions to complex problems, leading new product development projects, and collaborating with the technical team to support projects in color development, quality support, and technology transfers.
Key Responsibilities- Design and execute experiments, draw conclusions, and make recommendations.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of lab work and provide written updates and presentations of technical materials.
- Communicate with other departments/functions and develop a wide network of resources.
- Function under limited supervision and design experiments with support and write reports with limited review.
- Contribute solutions to less complex projects.
- Communicate detailed ideas concisely through written communication by writing technical reports.
- Comply with and display knowledge of all safety and security regulations and maintain a clean work area.
- Travel for technical conferences and product commercialization support, provide outside customer service, and train or mentor new or lower-level chemists and technicians.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the country for which you are applying for employment.
- Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math field.
- 1 year of laboratory coatings development/testing experience.
- Design of Experiment or Minitab.
- Good project management skills.
- Familiarity with application and troubleshooting of industrial coatings.
- Practical understanding of spectral measurement data.
- Computer knowledge for basic inputting, communication, and data analysis.
- Good Math knowledge.
- Analytical chemistry and the ability to extend it beyond the realm of coatings.
- Proven problem-solving and decision-making ability.
- Ability to adapt and change quickly in response to new situations/demands.
- 1-3 years of epoxy, polyurethane, or other organic/inorganic coating experience.
- Proficient in statistics and data analysis.
- Experience in organic/inorganic coatings technology.
- Creative thinking.
Travel Requirements: 10%
