Position Overview

The Registered Nurse in the Cath Lab is responsible for delivering direct patient care utilizing the nursing process, adhering to established standards and practices.

This role involves close interaction with patients undergoing catheterization procedures, ensuring their comfort and understanding of the process.

The nurse will implement care plans, which include administering medications, collecting specimens, and providing various medical treatments.

Accurate documentation of patient care is essential.

Monitoring, recording, and effectively communicating the patient's condition to the care team, physicians, patients, and their families is a critical responsibility.

Assisting patients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, nutrition, and mobility is also part of the role.

Collaboration across disciplines is necessary to coordinate comprehensive patient care, including transfers, discharges, referrals, and addressing spiritual or psychosocial needs.

Evaluating the educational needs of patients and their families, the nurse will provide tailored education based on age, culture, and specific circumstances.

Advocating for the physical and emotional health of patients is a key aspect of this position.

Additional duties may be assigned as required.

Occasionally, the nurse may be required to perform tasks typically assigned to CNAs, MAs, or LPNs.

Participation in staff meetings, training sessions, and committee work is expected.

Compliance with the policies and procedures of the Southern Tennessee Regional Health System is mandatory.

Scheduled shifts may include overtime as necessary.

Acceptance of on-call duties as directed is required.

Maintaining a professional appearance in accordance with the dress code is essential.


Minimum Educational Requirements

An Associate's degree is mandatory, while a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.

Essential Skills

Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently are required.

The ability to perform effectively in a high-pressure environment is crucial.

Certifications Required

Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications are necessary.

Licensure

A current and active Registered Nurse License for the State of Tennessee is required.
