Job Summary

Amentum is seeking a highly skilled DNA Examiner II to join our team. As a DNA Examiner II, you will be responsible for examining evidence, collecting DNA samples, generating STR DNA profiles, and analyzing data to support forensic investigations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Examine evidence to ensure proposed collection approach will not negatively impact collection of other forensic data.
  • Collect potential DNA samples from evidence using approved procedures to minimize sample contamination.
  • Generate STR DNA profiles from evidence and reference samples.
  • Analyze and interpret complex mixture data using probabilistic genotyping software.
  • Use photographic equipment to capture images of evidence items and relevant key portions.
  • Annotate case file documentation detailing processing techniques and examination results.
  • Perform administrative and technical reviews of reports and worksheets.
  • Ensure proper chain of custody is maintained.
  • Perform instrument maintenance.
Requirements
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree coupled with 3+ years' experience working in a forensic laboratory performing DNA analysis.
  • Experience must include identification of blood and body fluids, generation of STR DNA profiles, and mixture interpretations using probabilistic genotyping software.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a skills assessment.
  • Able to obtain and maintain Secret US Government clearance.
  • Physical ability and commitment to deploy globally as a team member.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional certification such as American Board of Criminalistics (ABC) is desired.
