PRIMARY ROLE:

The Mechanical Program Manager plays a pivotal role in providing strategic oversight and program management support to the Mechanical Engineering Department. This position is essential in ensuring that all design and production tasks related to low and medium voltage switchboards and panel boards are executed efficiently and meet the highest quality standards. In addition to managing project execution, the Mechanical Program Manager will implement departmental strategic initiatives and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project and Workflow Oversight:

  • Task Management: Oversee and manage the workflow of design and production tasks, ensuring timely completion while addressing any potential delays.
  • Scheduling and Coordination: Organize schedules, meetings, and deadlines for the engineering team to keep all projects on track.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain precise records of project statuses, updates, and outcomes. Generate regular reports to monitor progress and pinpoint areas for enhancement.
  • Resource Management: Assist in the allocation of resources, including personnel and materials, to maximize departmental efficiency.

Strategic Initiatives and Continuous Improvement:

  • Lead Continuous Improvement: Spearhead and support initiatives aimed at enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of the Mechanical Engineering Department.
  • Process Enhancement: Identify and implement improvements to streamline operations and minimize waste, promoting a culture of ongoing enhancement.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with various stakeholders, including other departments and external partners, to align strategic initiatives with overall business goals.
  • Encourage Team Input: Gather and promote suggestions from team members that lead to time savings and process improvements.

Program Management:

  • Project Planning: Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, including defining project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and formulate mitigation strategies to ensure successful project completion.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques. Measure progress against key performance indicators.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Collaborate with program managers from other departments to ensure alignment of projects and initiatives across the organization.

Leadership and Mentorship:

  • Promote Improvement Culture: Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team by encouraging innovative thinking and problem-solving.
  • Team Development: Provide guidance and mentorship to team members, nurturing a culture of ongoing learning and enhancement.
  • Conflict Management: Address and resolve any conflicts or issues that arise within the team to maintain a positive and productive work environment.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports To: Mechanical Design Director

Works With: Mechanical Design Managers, Catalog Manager (oversees CAD systems), and Program Managers from other departments.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of mechanical design processes. Experience with sheet metal fabrication is a plus but not mandatory.

Program Management: Proven experience in program management, including planning, execution, and monitoring.

Continuous Improvement: Demonstrated experience in driving continuous improvement initiatives and fostering a culture of ongoing enhancement.

Communication Skills: Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal, to effectively convey information and engage with stakeholders at all levels.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience: Previous experience in an administrative or program management role within a mechanical engineering or manufacturing environment.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Program Management, or a related field.

Certifications: PMP (Project Management Professional) or similar certification.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

This role requires a proactive individual with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. The Mechanical Program Manager must be adept at problem-solving and able to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams. The ability to drive strategic initiatives and foster a culture of continuous improvement is critical to the success of this position.
