Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Kavaliro is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support full lifecycle product development. This role will involve creating production drawings, reviewing designs, and providing technical support to manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the complete product development process, including design, prototype testing, manufacturing, and implementation.
  • Design systems and components to meet specific needs, ensuring they adhere to both internal standards and customer requirements.
  • Conduct methodical experiments, analyze data, and interpret findings.
  • Test and assess theoretical designs to ensure functionality.
  • Evaluate the performance, reliability, and safety of the final product.
  • Modify designs as needed to meet specifications and address any issues.
  • Prepare technical documentation and product reports.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues related to trainers or aircraft as required.
  • Assist in creating production drawings for machined parts, sheet metal fabrication, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives aimed at reducing development time, enhancing product quality, and lowering costs.
  • Recommend design solutions to meet production goals for new or updated products.
  • Ensure safe handling of government-furnished equipment and materials.
  • Be available for a standard workweek and any necessary overtime.
  • Perform additional tasks as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.
  • Ability to learn ASME Y14.100-2000 & Y14.5-1994 drawing standards.
  • Ability to learn Product Data Management (PDM) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
  • Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, and materials science.
  • Willingness to learn various fabrication and assembly techniques, such as metal machining, sheet metal fabrication, and welding.
  • Familiarity with industry and military specifications for materials, parts, and processes is preferred.
  • Demonstrates creativity, innovation, and a commitment to excellence in a fast-paced, diverse environment.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • Able to take direction from a mentor or lead.
  • Ability to adhere to company and industry standards.
  • Capable of obtaining a security clearance if required by the contract.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Military aviation maintenance experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required; experience with Microsoft Project is preferred.
