Job Summary

UPMC Life Changing Medicine is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to join our team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Care: Assist physicians with various aspects of patient care, including clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks, ensuring patient satisfaction.
  • Administrative Tasks: Send and receive patient medical records, obtain lab/x-ray reports, and complete forms/requisitions as needed.
  • Preparation and Maintenance: Prepare patient rooms, set up instruments and equipment, and maintain infection control by cleaning exam/procedure rooms and equipment.
  • Communication: Answer calls, provide patient education, and relay instructions to patients/families.
  • Procedures: Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs, as well as assist physicians with procedures.
  • Documentation: Document patient information into the medical record.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies, maintain strict confidentiality, and adhere to UPMC Health System policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Skills: Basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic, and treatment room responsibilities.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required.
