Job Summary

As a Surgical Technologist at Owensboro Health, you will play a vital role in providing assistance to physicians and facilitating procedural areas. This includes invasive and non-invasive techniques, ensuring a seamless and efficient surgical experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare the surgical operating suite with necessary equipment, supplies, and instruments, ensuring good working order.
  • Assist with patient preparation, transportation, positioning, and draping.
  • Maintain a sterile field and continuously account for instruments and supplies during surgery.
  • Pass instruments to the physician during surgery.
  • Receives specimens for delivery to the appropriate testing facility.
  • Assist with wound dressing and securing drainage systems.
  • Provide visualization of the operative site using retraction, sponging, suctioning, and irrigation.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • No prior experience necessary.
  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery-Certified (TS-C) through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) within 90 days of employment.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of employment.
