Position: Licensed Massage Therapist | BeLoved Hospice, Inc.
Role Summary:
The Licensed Massage Therapist provides compassionate care to hospice patients, delivering gentle and therapeutic touch while they remain comfortably clothed. This role is integral to the individualized care plan, focusing on alleviating pain and enhancing comfort through skilled massage techniques. The therapist creates a soothing atmosphere using elements such as aromatherapy and calming music, aligning with the hospice's mission and objectives.
Reporting Structure:
This position is accountable to the Director of Complimentary Therapies.
Key Responsibilities:
General Duties:
- Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of the organization's mission and services.
- Respect patient privacy and confidentiality while ensuring safety protocols are followed.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, patients, families, and community professionals.
- Demonstrate reliability by adhering to scheduled work hours and notifying supervisors of any absences.
- Utilize problem-solving skills to address challenges efficiently.
- Seek guidance as necessary, following the established chain of command.
- Maintain professionalism in all interactions with staff, patients, and community members.
- Exhibit effective time management to optimize productivity and meet deadlines.
- Engage in Performance Improvement initiatives as requested.
- Work collaboratively within the Interdisciplinary Team framework.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards.
- Commit to ongoing personal and professional development.
- Complete all required training and education as mandated.
- Promote the hospice's mission and objectives in community engagements.
- Adhere to the organization's dress code policy.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Implement individualized care plans developed by the interdisciplinary team.
- Communicate any changes in patient condition to the RN Case Manager promptly.
- Document observations and significant information accurately.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to enhance collaborative care.
- Provide emotional support and facilitate communication among patients, families, and the care team.
- Perform massage therapy interventions to alleviate symptoms associated with terminal illness.
- Educate patients and families on the benefits of massage therapy.
- Document treatment responses in the electronic medical record.
- Assist in creating new referral opportunities within the community.
- Fulfill additional duties as assigned.
Physical and Safety Requirements:
- Participate in emergency preparedness procedures.
- Operate equipment safely and report any safety concerns.
- Utilize personal protective equipment as necessary.
- Maintain mobility throughout the workday.
- Possess the physical stamina to perform job duties effectively.
Qualifications:
- Current licensure as a Massage Therapist in Oregon.
- Preferred experience of two years in massage therapy with diverse training.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Proficient in English, both written and verbal.
- Reliable transportation and valid auto insurance.
- Successful completion of a background check.
- Ability to manage emotionally charged situations with professionalism.
