Position Summary

The Break Pack Sorting Supervisor will work under the guidance of the On-Site Manager, overseeing the team during their shift in a Distribution Center. This role is crucial for ensuring that team members maximize productivity while adhering to stringent safety protocols. The primary responsibility includes the hand sorting of reusable cardboard boxes to grade, while ensuring that all waste and debris are cleared before returning materials to the customer. The Supervisor is also tasked with meeting production goals while maintaining a clean and safe workspace.

Key Responsibilities

  • Effectively communicate daily, weekly, and monthly expectations and objectives to team members to meet performance standards.
  • Support a safe working environment by promoting and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Conduct safety meetings and establish clear expectations for the team.
  • Address customer needs and concerns as necessary.
  • Provide coaching, training, and constructive feedback to team members, holding them accountable when needed.
  • Accurately complete all production-related documentation.
  • Report any employee-related issues directly to the On-Site Manager.
  • Assist with loading and unloading materials from trailers.
  • Manage the movement of pallets and materials throughout the storage facility.
  • Ensure proper stacking of pallets and materials in accordance with inventory control guidelines.
  • Verify the security of loads.
  • Conduct daily equipment checks on all industrial power equipment.
  • Follow operational instructions and maintain accurate records.
  • Inspect products to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Organize and maintain filing systems, including correspondence and records.
  • Perform basic financial data entry tasks.
  • Execute tasks in a timely, accurate, and safe manner.
  • May assist with forklift operations as needed, ensuring efficient movement of materials and accurate tracking.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment that meets company standards.

Qualifications

  • Preferred experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong math, language, and reading skills with attention to detail and basic computer proficiency.
  • High level of attention to prevent workplace injuries.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Forklift certification in accordance with OSHA standards.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from management and staff.
  • Capability to assess weights and judge distances and heights accurately.

Work Environment

This position requires the ability to work in various environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures and particulate exposure. Employees must be able to adjust their body position frequently, including bending, stooping, walking, and standing for extended periods.

  • Frequent sitting, talking, hearing, and using hands for handling and reaching.
  • Noise levels may vary depending on the work area.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory, including eye protection and safety shoes.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, and color vision.
  • Good balance and hand-eye-foot coordination are essential.
  • Regular lifting of up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 75 pounds is required.
