S&P Global Market Intelligence provides an extensive range of credit solutions aimed at assisting organizations worldwide in evaluating and managing credit risk. The Credit & Risk Solutions (C&RS) division serves as the commercial sector within the Market Intelligence Division, offering Ratings' credit ratings along with associated data, research, advanced analytics, and financial risk solutions, which encompass subscription-based products like RatingsXpress, RatingsDirect, and Credit Analytics. The C&RS division is strategically positioned to achieve a $1 Billion global business target by 2026, significantly contributing to the overall growth of the Market Intelligence Division.

Key Responsibilities and Impact:

The Licensing Compliance Lead is essential in supporting transactions involving both domestic and international clients across a diverse range of customer segments, including Investment Management, Investment Banking, Insurance, Commercial Banking, Non-Financial Corporates, and Government Agencies. This role involves close collaboration with Product, Commercial, and Legal teams to generate sales opportunities, minimize losses, and enforce licensing governance and compliance by reviewing and assessing licensing deal terms and contracts, while safeguarding S&P's proprietary data rights. Key responsibilities include:

  • Assist Commercial teams across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC by providing expert insights on licensing terms, analyzing deals, and aiding in negotiations for new and existing Credit Solutions licensing agreements.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate legal contracts to ensure consistency in deal terms and pricing across various clients and industries. Evaluate and offer recommendations regarding non-standard deal terms.
  • Identify and create new sales opportunities for the Commercial teams and assist in loss mitigation.
  • Provide guidance on actions for escalations from the Commercial team concerning potential unlicensed or unauthorized use.
  • Support examinations and audits, both internal and external, by preparing documentation, responding to inquiries, and assisting in the remediation of identified issues. Monitor and evaluate the adequacy of remediation efforts and escalate overdue items.
  • Foster a culture of compliance by educating stakeholders throughout the organization on best practices.

Compensation/Benefits Information: (This section is only applicable to US candidates)

S&P Global indicates that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $100,379.00 to $176,000. The final base salary will be determined based on the individual's geographic location, experience level, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications. Additionally, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.)
  • Experience with legal contracts
  • Strong commercial acumen and innovative problem-solving skills
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Product, Sales, and Legal
  • Proven leadership abilities and capacity to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in the financial services sector as a compliance, legal, or risk management professional
  • Self-motivated individual with a solid understanding of commercial contracts and value-based pricing concepts
  • Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate with commercial, legal, and regulatory teams; capable of guiding and mentoring team members
  • Ability to translate high-level requirements into actionable execution plans, secure consensus from partners, and ensure follow-through.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Curiosity to learn and adaptability to acquire new skill sets
  • Capacity to work independently in fast-paced and ambiguous environments

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient in computer skills, including MS Office
  • Understanding of banking and asset management functions.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI), Excel, complex formulas, and pivot tables, along with experience in data analysis and reporting
  • Fluency in foreign languages
