Job Summary

Geisinger Health System is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our team. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures, working closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to provide exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons with procedures, maintaining aseptic techniques and adhering to universal protocols.
  • Coordinate treatments with other disciplines, ensuring seamless patient care.
  • Provide basic patient assistance, connecting patients to clinical equipment as needed.
  • Prepare and verify surgical sites, instruments, and supplies, maintaining accurate accounts and verifying counts.
  • Dispose of linens, needles, and sharps in appropriate containers, adhering to safety protocols.
  • Assess wounds, apply or change sterile dressings, and maintain universal precautions.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, acting as a preceptor for students and assisting with specimen collection and disposal.
  • Perform quality control monitoring, adhering to all policies, protocols, and standards of care.

Requirements
  • Graduate from a Specialty Training Program.
  • Minimum of 1 year of related work experience.
  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification.
