Position Overview: The Asphalt Distributor Operator plays a crucial role in the paving operations by efficiently managing the tack truck and ensuring the safe application of asphalt materials. This position requires a valid Class B CDL license with Tanker and HazMat endorsements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to all safety regulations and utilizing the appropriate equipment.
- Comply with company policies and OSHA standards to ensure safe operational practices.
- Execute daily tasks as directed by the Foreman, tailored to specific project requirements.
- Safely operate the tack truck and associated machinery.
- Collaborate with the asphalt crew to meet paving specifications and assist in various roles as needed.
- Conduct thorough pre and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and report any maintenance issues.
- Load and manage tack truck oil from storage tanks.
- Prepare asphalt and burner tanks, ensuring cleanliness and proper functioning of spray bars.
- Follow supervisor instructions regarding work areas and emulsion distribution rates.
- Monitor and maintain appropriate oil temperatures during operations.
- Apply oil in designated areas prior to paving activities.
- Adhere to the Company Attendance Policy to support crew efficiency.
- Maintain a professional demeanor and cooperative attitude with all team members and clients.
- Be adaptable to last-minute changes in schedules and locations.
- Be prepared for overtime and potential travel for work assignments.
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required.
- Comply with PPE policies and ensure personal protective equipment is in good condition.
- Possess the physical capability to operate equipment under varying weather conditions for extended periods.
- Meet Driver Qualification Standards for transportation to job sites.
- Follow Traffic Control Crew guidelines and safety protocols.
- Take on additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Valid Class B CDL license with Tanker and HazMat endorsements is mandatory.
- 2-3 years of experience as a Truck Driver in the construction sector, with prior experience as a Tack Truck Operator.
- Ability to manage multiple projects while adhering to strict deadlines.
- Exhibit strong safety awareness and commitment to company policies.
- Reliable transportation is essential.
- Maintain appropriate work attire, including safety gear.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and professionalism in all interactions.
- Provide documentation proving eligibility to work in the United States.
Working Conditions:
- Capable of handling the physical demands of heavy highway construction.
- Adaptability to extreme weather conditions is necessary.
- Physical activities will include stretching, bending, lifting, and various movements throughout the workday.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. regularly using proper techniques.
- Work environments may vary, requiring tolerance for dust, noise, and changing temperatures.
