Job Overview

Position Title: Scientist II (Molecular Biology)

Location: West Sacramento, CA

Duration: 12 Months+ (Temp to Hire)

Working Hours: Monday to Friday - 9 am to 5 pm

Compensation: $38 - $41/hr. on W2


Position Summary:

The Scientist II will be responsible for conducting experiments related to clinical trials and will receive training on new assays. Collaboration with team members to share findings is essential.


Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from an accredited institution.
  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience in laboratory testing pertinent to the specialties performed by the Clinical Services Lab.

Required Experience:
  • Proficient in a variety of molecular biology techniques.
  • Ability to perform intricate data analysis.
  • Experience with next-generation sequencing is mandatory, with a preference for familiarity with Ion Torrent technology.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Proficient in using computer systems for data entry, retrieval, and analysis, including word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for complex analyses.
  • Excellent analytical capabilities.
  • Thorough understanding of good laboratory practices and regulatory compliance.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment:
  • Potential exposure to highly infectious agents and hazardous materials.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while utilizing equipment and handling specimens.
  • Physical agility to reach into cabinets and drawers, as well as the ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Visual acuity to differentiate colors for analysis and auditory skills to monitor equipment timers.
  • Fine motor skills necessary for operating equipment and pipetting specimens.
  • Work primarily in a laboratory setting, with some responsibilities in an office environment for documentation and procedure writing.
