About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer to join our team at Sonny's Enterprises LLC. As a key member of our Quality Control and Continuous Improvement Department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality of our products and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to understand raw material requirements for new product development (NPD) items and ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Work closely with purchasing and engineering teams to support supplier development processes and ensure timely delivery of high-quality materials.
  • Manage the PPAP process, including changes to existing products and onboarding new products, to ensure seamless integration and quality control.
  • Perform capability analysis (Cp/Cpk) to ensure suppliers and internal processes can consistently deliver high-quality products.
  • Effectively communicate problem statements to suppliers through the use of the supplier corrective action request (SCAR) process and form, including all pertinent information.
  • Monitor SCAR lists weekly and follow up with suppliers with past due open SCARs to ensure timely resolution.
  • Offer support and resources to suppliers to ensure thorough root cause investigations and effective corrective actions.
  • Validate corrective actions stemming from SCARs during subsequent supplier audits.
  • Hold quarterly phone calls with key quality contacts at critical suppliers to discuss quality performance and areas for improvement.
  • Recommend equipment and processes to enable suppliers to comply with our requirements.
  • Analyze suppliers from a weakness standpoint and communicate requirements for continued growth.
  • Document all suggestions, support, and results in a quarterly supplier report for critical suppliers.
  • Work with Production Supervisors and Director of Quality Control and Continuous Improvement to prioritize projects and ensure quality objectives are met.
  • Ensure supplier audit checklists are current and relevant to fabricator certification clauses.
  • Create annual supplier audit schedules based on documented audit frequency parameters and critical supplier lists, grouping audits by location to reduce travel requirements.
  • Build effective relationships with key quality personnel at critical suppliers.
  • Confirm corrective actions resulting from SCARs have been implemented and sustained.
  • Communicate audit reports and support implementation of corrective actions addressing observations and findings.
  • Support development and growth, alerting the business if a supplier does not have the necessary capability and/or capacity to supply current and future demand.
  • Confirm suppliers are complying with the Sonny's Enterprises Product Change Notification (PCN) Policy.
  • Maintain all supplier quality standard operating procedures (SOPs), forms, checklists, standard work, and any other associated documentation.
  • Create and maintain quantitative, clear, and achievable metrics that align with the Quality Control and Continuous Improvement Department goals and objectives.
  • Maintain, update, and integrate QMS software at Sonny's facilities as required.
  • Maintain and present dashboards, projects, and action item lists relevant to the quality team.
  • Support quality inspectors with first article inspection, quality alerts, data analysis, etc., and communicate effectively with quality inspectors and engineering teams to ensure everyone is on the same page with internal and supplier changes.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field (Mechanical, Industrial, etc.)
  • Up to 50% travel required
  • Experience visiting and auditing suppliers required
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification a plus
  • Strong understanding of quality core tools (process flow, PFMEA, control plan, etc.)
  • Lean Certification a plus
  • Trained Auditor a plus
  • SAP system in a manufacturing environment a plus
  • Experience with Lean material management and SAP software a plus
  • Kaizen event leadership and coordination experience a plus
