Physical Therapist Assistant

The provision of optimal assistance to the Physical Therapist in the treatment of patients is a critical aspect of this role.
Responsibilities- Perform physical therapy procedures and related tasks under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
- Ensure patient safety and well-being throughout the treatment process.
- Observe patient reactions and responses, reporting them to the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Follow established procedures and safety precautions when applying physical therapy modalities and techniques.
- Adjust treatment procedures as needed, with prior approval from the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Maintain accurate and timely progress notes and records.
- Refer patient inquiries regarding prognosis to the supervising Physical Therapist.
- Provide standardized information to patients and families.
- Participate in professional growth and adhere to the Code of Ethics of the APTA.
- Knowledge of and adherence to CAMC and department policies and procedures.
- Participate in staff meetings, patient rounds, inservices, and other educational activities.
- Delegate routine functions to Therapy Technicians within the department.
Patient Group Knowledge (Applicable to positions with direct patient contact): The employee must possess and demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment, or care as defined by the department's identified patient ages.
Specifically, the employee must demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by patients.
Common Duties and Responsibilities- Maintain and document required education.
- Demonstrate positive customer service and co-worker relations.
- Comply with the company's attendance policy.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement activities.
- Perform work in a cost-effective manner.
- Perform work in accordance with departmental pay practices and scheduling policies.
- Perform work in alignment with the overall mission and strategic plan of the organization.
- Follow organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Associate's Degree (Required)
- Physical Therapy Assistant License (Required)
- Basic Life Support (Required) Within 30 days of hire
