Safety Operations Manager

Position Summary:
The Safety Operations Manager is tasked with the crucial responsibility of designing, executing, and overseeing the organization's Safety Program and Transportation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Directs and manages the activities of the Safety Department.
- Provides leadership, training, and evaluation for safety-related issues.
- Implements and enforces health, safety, environmental, and fire prevention protocols.
- Conducts regular environmental inspections on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
- Educates staff on proper procedures for emergencies and disasters.
- Creates comprehensive emergency evacuation strategies for all facilities.
- Acts as the liaison with local emergency and disaster response agencies.
- Facilitates monthly Safety Committee Meetings.
- Investigates incidents, injuries, and illnesses to enhance safety measures and prevent recurrence.
- Prepares and presents reports, briefings, or summaries to relevant personnel.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with local law enforcement.
- Oversees departmental budgeting and adheres to financial constraints.
- Approves requests for safety-related equipment and supplies.
- Manages inventory and maintenance of safety materials and equipment.
- Plans and organizes the deployment of overtime and on-call staff to ensure compliance with organizational policies.
Essential Skills and Competencies:
- Proven leadership abilities and knowledge of management practices.
- Strong understanding of budget management and expenditure tracking.
- Experience in developing and managing safety and security initiatives.
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal workplace safety regulations (OSHA).
- Ability to perform risk assessments and develop protection strategies.
- Knowledge of internal investigation protocols.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for engaging with staff and students.
- Effective time management and organizational capabilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in formulating and implementing safety policies and procedures.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Educational Background and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of three years in military, law enforcement, or safety management roles.
- Valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to obtain a valid commercial Driver's License Class B with passenger endorsement within three months of employment.
- Water Safety Certification is required.
