Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Corporate Accountant II to join our team at the Medical University of South Carolina. As a key member of our financial operations team, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of external funding sources, including federal and state appropriations, grants, and other non-patient service revenue. You will work closely with our Cash team to ensure accurate cash balances and net position of individual funding sources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of external funding sources, including federal and state appropriations, grants, and other non-patient service revenue.
  • Work closely with the Cash team to ensure accurate cash balances and net position of individual funding sources.
  • Collaborate with other general ledger team members to ensure proper recording and maintenance of deferred revenues and accounts receivable.
  • Set up recurring entries and adjust accounts as necessary to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Three years of work experience in a business-related area, such as accounting, business, audit, or finance.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced and complex work environment.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business with hospital/healthcare-based work experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Access, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • MBA, MHA, CPA, or CHFP designation.
