Job Summary

Inova Heart and Vascular is seeking a Retail Pharmacy Technician to join our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Receive and fill prescription requests for patients from physicians, nurses, or directly from patients.
  • Greet customers and take prescription requests.
  • Fills prescriptions, assists with counting pills or measuring liquids, and labels prescription bottles.
  • Enter customer information into PEA systems, print labels, and include appropriate prescription information to ensure customers understand the dosage, side effects, and potential hazards of prescriptions.
  • Answer phones, receive payment from customers, and maintain inventory.

Job Requirements
  • Assist the Pharmacist in reviewing, processing, preparing, filling, labeling, and dispensing medications and supplies.
  • Clean equipment and maintain all required temperature logs according to system policies and procedures.
  • Check medication and administration supply inventory for out-of-date products, remove products from inventory, and work with the appropriate resource to record out-of-date products in the Expiring Medication log book.
  • Perform computer entry of prescription information, including patient/prescriber search, drug selection, prescription interpretation/entry, insurance billing, and basic problem resolution.
  • Prepare medications for clients through mixing medications, counting pills, and labeling bottles.
Qualifications
  • One (1) year of experience working as a retail Pharmacy Technician.
  • High School or GED.
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician in the state of Virginia or Pharmacy Intern License.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 3 months of hire.
