Position Overview:
The Production Maintenance Lead is responsible for overseeing and executing maintenance operations at the Brownsville facility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the safety of all personnel through adherence to best safety practices, including LOTO, confined space protocols, and incident investigations.
  • Manage maintenance tasks related to the installation and repair of machinery and electrical equipment utilized in production.
  • Implement a preventative maintenance program to guarantee safe working conditions, reduce production downtime, and ensure equipment longevity.
  • Maintain inventory levels and procure parts as necessary for operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with external contractors for bids and project execution.
  • Supervise and mentor Millwrights and Limited Maintenance Electrician (LME) apprentices in troubleshooting equipment.
  • Oversee the repair and rebuilding of production machinery, including pellet mills and conveyors, utilizing hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Prioritize maintenance schedules, track production downtime, and coordinate maintenance activities.
  • Drive enhancements in maintenance systems by engaging with the Maintenance Excellence program.
  • Provide regular updates to the Plant Manager regarding safety, maintenance issues, and ongoing projects.
  • Participate in employee performance evaluations, hiring processes, and disciplinary actions.

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Limited Maintenance Electrician (LME) certification preferred.
  • Journeyman Millwright certification preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a journeyman-level millwright role or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of PLC systems is advantageous.
  • Basic understanding of electrical principles.
  • Experience in project planning, implementation, and supervisory roles is preferred.
  • Familiarity with developing and managing preventative maintenance programs is a plus.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Working Conditions:
The Production Maintenance Lead will work both in the plant and the office, focusing on equipment maintenance and project planning.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Will need to walk, climb ladders, stoop, kneel, or crouch to assess site conditions as required.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment, including eye and ear protection, respiratory gear, and fall prevention harnesses.
  • Good reasoning and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Exposure to various workplace hazards, including slippery surfaces and overhead obstacles, is expected.
  • Ability to work in diverse weather conditions is necessary.
